Change? Check your relationship to your own B.S.

Change doesn’t happen because it’s a new year.  It happens when we get really tired of our own B.S.

It happens when we are ready to give up the safety of unaccountability, and the ease of our safe, toothless choices.  It happens when we stop swapping our marvellous uniqueness for the beigeness of conformity.

In my experience, the only way to avoid disappointing others, is to disappoint myself.  That’s not how I want to roll.

Anais Nin famously said, ‘And the day came when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.’  If you’re getting fed up with your own excuses, this cost-benefit analysis starts to resonate.

Then you go with your heart – it knows when it’s time to blossom.

The added bonus is the weight loss of all the excess we’re dumping, all the unnecessary burdens and crippling excuses (the ‘cannots’ and the ‘I couldn’t possiblies’).  Because change is so much easier when you have more freedom…
