During the depths of my burnout, when everything I thought gave me value…
(my appearance, a somewhat hot body, work successes, C-suite clients) fell away,
I had a conversation with my friend Teo Alfero, author and spiritual teacher.
Teo runs Wolf Connection, a charity in California, to help struggling youth.
As you’d expect, he’s an old soul.
“You think you’ve been successful because of your overachieving all your life?” he asked me.
I nodded. I mean, duh!
He smiled and went quiet.
Then he said with the tenderest a$$kicking tone:
“Mandy, you’ve been successful in spite of your overachieving, pushing, and efforting. In spite of, not because of.”
It’s time to cultivate flow.
I’m reminding you because I’m reminding me too.
